I-66 Express promotes STEM education in public schools in Fairfax, Virginia

Each school received $15,000 to increase STEM activities for all students in the schools

I-66 Express highway presented two grants recently to the Foundation for Fairfax County Public Schools to support STEM education at Stenwood and Marshall Road Elementary Schools in Vienna, Virginia.

“Providing the tools and resources to support science and technology education at the elementary school level is foundational to develop the workforce of the future,” commented Javier Gutiérrez, chief executive officer for I66 Express. “We look forward to a long-term partnership with the Foundation for Fairfax County Public Schools in supporting innovative STEM initiatives well into the future.”

Elizabeth Murphy, executive director of the Foundation, stated, “We are delighted to accept this contribution for STEM education from I-66 Express. The work that they are supporting will be immediately impactful at these two schools, and we look forward to finding other ways to work together to grow similar programs in FCPS.”

“Marshall Road ES is fortunate to be receiving this very kind gift,” commented Jennifer Heiges, principal of Marshall Road Elementary School. “We will be able to expand our STEM Program, reaching more of our students in the future. We look forward to purchasing innovative resources and materials to enhance STEM at Marshall Road

“Stenwood is excited to receive this generous donation to purchase STEM materials to further engage our students in science, technology, engineering, art, and math studies,” added Peggy Dammeyer, principal of Stenwood Elementary School. “Our students will be so excited!”

LBJ Express sponsors STEM camp day with 140 students

On Wednesday, June 12, LBJ Express highway sponsored for the third year, a STEM camp day for 140 Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD students. LBJ Express has partnered with Carrollton-Farmers Branch Education Foundation, the STEM camp organizers, to help teach middle schoolers STEM and civil engineering concepts. In those three years, the three-day, STEM camp has been hosted at Barbara Bush Middle School and has impacted approximately 440 middle school students.

Cintra picked as preferred proposer for Virginia's I-66, representing an investment of over €3 billion

Cintra, a subsidiary of Ferrovial, in consortium with infrastructure fund Meridiam, has been chosen by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) as Preferred Proposer to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Transform 66 project on Interstate 66, worth over 3 billion euro.
