The LBJ Express Marketplace program was launched in 2012
The LBJ Express highway has been awarded the first Corporate Social Responsibility Award by the online newspaper PR Daily for maintaining the best relationship with stakeholders. The initiative LBJ Express Marketplace and the communication of its construction project to the local institutions enabled it to beat other candidates including the giant Wal-Mart.
“We are very proud to have won this award”, said Andy Rittler, director of Corporate Affairs with LBJ Infrastructure Group LLC. “And we want businesses and consumers alike to know that we are doing our very best to complete this project on time so they can continue to enjoy all of the businesses and locations they know and use daily”, explained Rittler.
The LBJ Express Marketplace program was launched in 2012 as part of the global actions that the concessionaire and the contractor carried out to keep all those affected by the project informed. During the highway construction process, the concessionaire continues to be accessible and its doors are open to all affected people and businesses. LBJ Express has made sure that the businesses near the highway will be able to continue communicating their offers to the consumers driving on the I-635 or LBJ Express.
“We are proud of having a proactive partner like the LBJ Express team”, said Maurice Pittman, Project Manager of the Texas Department of Transport (TxDOT). “Public outreach is essential for projects of this size and scope”, and he added that “LBJ Express has truly created a model to follow”.
“We have adopted a non-traditional public relations strategy of ‘boots on the ground’. We consistently reach out to businesses affected by construction on a daily basis to ensure they have the most up-to-date information and how it could potentially affect them”, said Heather DeLapp, Public Relations Manager for the projects design/build contractor Trinity Infrastructure. “Its important they have a face and a real person to reach out to during construction”, she concluded.
